Jagadish Chandra Mohanty has been a senior officer of the Indian Administrative Service of 1985 batch in Rajasthan cadre. He has been the topper and gold medallist in graduation and post graduation in political science in Utkal University. He is also a Ph.D. in economics.
In his long career of 32 years till, He has been Collector and District Magistrate for 7 Years. He has also headed various challenging departments of Government of Rajasthan.
He has been very active in student politics. He was Secretary of students union in Ravenshaw College in 1975 & was subsequently elected as President of Utkal University in 1977.
